“Cogito ergo sum” es una frase latina cuya traducción dirá  “pienso, luego existo,” expuesta por el filosofo francés René  Descartes, autor del método cartesiano que abre las puertas al pensamiento racional moderno y que impone la duda como razón eficiente.

Pero, examinado su contenido, se observa un fallo notable en ella.

Resulta insuficiente para explicar, per se, la existencia.

Hay algo que luce falso o, al menos, mal planteado ahí.

La existencia-y he aquí el punto clave-, no necesariamente está determinada por el pensamiento y solo por él.

El pensamiento, insistimos, no forja al ser, no lo hace ser.

Un niño, por ejemplo, no tiene, aunque sea muy listo e improvise palabras ingeniosas, pensamiento, entendido  éste  como sistema de ideas elaboradas y que responden a un habla racionalizada y meditada.

Lo mismo sucede con un monje en pleno trance profundo.

Aunque mantiene la razón y siente el mundo y es sensible a él y a sus fenómenos, su mente, su conciencia, está alejada de lo que llamamos  con el nombre de “pensamiento”.

Hubiera sido más feliz, más potable este juicio si- para nuestro entendimiento- Descartes lo hubiera planteado de este modo:

“Pienso, luego soy consciente de mi existencia”.

Luce más acabado, más comprensible y aun más filosófico
