DENUNCIAN ACTIVISTA SOCIAL FUE APRESADO Y TORTURADO (vídeo)

SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, República Dominicana.- Activistas de grupos sociales de las comunidades de Licey al Medio y Moca, denunciaron que uno de sus integrantes y promotor del paro de labores en demanda de obras, habría sido apresado y torturado por agentes policiales y otras autoridades.

Se trata de Carlos Durán (Bily), uno de los activistas del Frente de Lucha Unión y Progreso (FLUP), que ha promovido el paros de labores en la zonas de Licey al Medio y Moca, para exigir al Gobierno el arreglo de calles y la reconstrucción de varios puentes que resultaron dañados con las pasadas lluvias.

Carlos Durán denunció que fue apresado cuando iba a su trabajo y agregó que lo trasladaron desde Santiago a Puerto Plata y luego a Santo Domingo, donde alega que fue golpeado y presionado para que declarara sobre unas armas de fuego que presuntamente tendrían en su poder activistas sociales y que usarían en las huelgas.

En relación a la situación que denuncia Carlos Durán, los dirigentes de grupos populares, Osvaldo Brito y Abel Rodríguez, han dicho que más que un apresamiento, se trató de un secuestro por parte de las autoridades.

Los activistas exigieron que se haga una investigación seria sobre este caso, para que los responsables afronten las consecuencias.

Tras el apresamiento, Durán advirtió a las autoridades que no dejarán la lucha social por las obras que demandan las comunidades desde hace muchos años, como un sistema de drenaje sanitario para Licey, la ampliación de la carretera Duarte y la construcción del acueducto de La Reina.
