SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- El Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) elevó a 20 las provincias en alerta roja  por el paso de tormenta Laura, que durante toda la madrugra provocó fuertes lluvias y vientos en gran parte de la geografía nacional.

Las provincias en alerta roja son: La Altagracia, Samaná, San Pedro Hato, Mayor, El Seibo, San José de Ocoa, Santo Domingo, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales, Puerto Plata, Montecristi, Espaillat, María Trinidad Sánchez, San Cristóbal, La Romana, Distrito Nacional, Monte Plata, Peravia, Y Sánchez Ramírez.

Mientras que en alerta amarilla se encuentran Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago, Rodríguez, Dajabón, Valverde, Duarte, Santiago, San Juan, Bahoruco, Independencia, y Elías Pina,

Según informó la Oficina Nacional  de Meteorología, a las 5 de la mañana de este domingo la Tormenta Laura aún se encontraba sobre República Dominicana con vientos máximos sostenidos de 75 kilómetros por hora (con ráfagas superiores), se desplaza hacia el oeste/noroeste a 30 kilómetro por hora.
