Por MÁXIMO LAUREANO
SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, República Dominicana.- Contrario a lo planteado por el director saliente del Hospital José María Cabral y Báez, Ernesto Rodríguez, quien asegura que en cinco años el centro alcanzó mejoras nunca registradas, el gerente que tomó las riendas, Antonio Hiliario Reyes califica el nosocomio como una “casa del terror”, a la cual los usuarios le temen, en lugar de confiar.
De ahí la promesa del nuevo funcionario de recuperar la imagen del hospital, que según ha denunciado tiene una deuda de RD$ 60 millones y una nómina donde un 30 % de los nombrados no justifican sus salarios.
Dijo que en la actualidad, el hospital tiene un registro de 1, 700 empleados, que no representaría una nómina abultada si todos trabajaran como está establecido. Entre estos hay personal médico y administrativo.
También denuncia que ha habido irregularidades en el equipamiento de algunas áreas, en las cuales los equipos instalados recientemente no funcionan y que hasta el momento no hay una cara responsable que responda por las fallas.
Y es que las autoridades actuales de Salud en Santiago consideran que las condiciones del Hospital José María Cabral Báez, en cuanto a los servicios, es la misma de hace siete años, cuando inició el proceso de reconstrucción en julio del 2013, con una inversión anunciada de RD$ 2, 200 mil millones.
Hilario Reyes dijo, además, que para cuando se entregue el hospital como terminado, habrá áreas sin reparar, porque no están contempladas en el proyecto. Asegura que la reconstrucción del hospital no ha llenado las expectativas para mejorar los servicios.
También denuncia que hay espacios que se repararon y que ya están deteriorados por descuido de las autoridades.
Los funcionarios aseguran que en áreas como la Emergencia, entregada como reparada en medio del proceso de reestructuración, tiene filtraciones. Adicionalmente, se ha reducido la cantidad de camas del centro porque se han sacrificado los espacios por la reconstrucción.
A todo eso se suma el anuncio hecho por el encargado de la Norcentral del Ministerio de Salud, Manuel Lora Perelló, de que se iniciará una investigación para comparar los equipos contemplados y entregados durante el proceso de la reconstrucción.
Mientras, se espera que avance el proceso de reconstrucción del hospital, la morgue, área de lavado, la cocina y otros departamentos, alojados en espacios improvisados.
