SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- El Nuevo Modelo de Gestión Penitenciaria alojó finalmente en el Centro de Corrección y Rehabilitación Najayo Hombres (CCR-XVII) de San Cristóbal a los siete imputados involucrados en el Caso Pulpo, que arrancó con sus apresamientos en el marco de la Operación Antipulpo de hace diez días.
Los siete guardan prisión preventiva desde hoy por su participación en la “trama de corrupción que se benefició con miles de millones de pesos de los contribuyentes”, según la acusación del Ministerio Público.
La magistrada Hilda Patricia Lagombra, coordinadora nacional del Modelo de Gestión Penitenciaria, notificó la decisión del cambio de presidio mediante oficios al juez José Alejandro Vargas, de la Oficina Judicial de Servicios de Atención Permanente del Distrito Nacional, y al procurador adjunto Wilson Camacho, titular de la Procuraduría Especializada de Persecución a la Corrupción Administrativa (Pepca).

La investigación del Ministerio Público “desarticuló la red de corrupción sustentada en un entramado de compañías de carpetas controladas por Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez, quien aprovechó su condición de hermano del entonces presidente Danilo Medina (2012-2020) para establecer negocios con el Estado”, reiteró la nota de prensa institucional.
El juez Vargas dispuso que los 7 imputados cumplieran la medida de coerción en los Centros de Corrección y Rehabilitación de San Cristóbal (CCR-XX) y San Pedro de Macorís (CCR-XI), lo que “se imposibilita por falta de espacio”, se informó.
La magistrada Lagombra notificó, tanto al juez como al titular de la Pepca, que ambos recintos “están ocupados” en estos momentos, razón “por lo que no hay espacio para alojar nuevos internos”.
Resalta que el Centro de Corrección y Rehabilitación Najayo Hombres (CCR-XVII) cuenta con “todas las condiciones para garantizar una custodia y vigilancia adecuada” de los imputados, “así como el cumplimiento óptimo del Protocolo de Máxima Seguridad y Alta Notoriedad”.
Medina Sánchez, señalado como la cabeza operativa del entramado de corrupción, fue trasladado bajo estrictas medidas de seguridad, al igual que los exfuncionarios Francisco Pagán, Fernando Rosa y Aquiles Cristofer Sánchez. También, los presuntos testaferros o prestanombres Julián Esteban Suriel Suazo, José Dolores Santana Carmona y Wacal Vernavel Méndez Pineda.
