Representantes del Ministerio Público en el distrito judicial de Santiago aseguraron este lunes que la mayoría de los implicados en la Operación Discovery de estafa internacional tiene antecedentes criminales por casos de asesinatos, drogas, violencia y otras situaciones y un presente como miembros de bandas delictivas con poder para atentar contra los fiscales.
“El Ministerio Público tienen cientos de elementos de pruebas, incluyendo las pruebas de que esos imputados tienen, todos, la mayoría, antecedentes criminales, por homicidios, por asesinatos, por drogas, por violencia”, afirmó la fiscal Sourelly Jáquez, tras la sesión de este lunes en la cual se inició el conocimiento de la medida de coerción que, tras varias horas e incidentes procesales, se pospuso para el miércoles a las 11:00 de la mañana.
La vocera del Ministerio Público agregó que ha sido necesario reforzar la seguridad del Ministerio Público, debido a que se ha comprobado que muchos de los imputados también forman de bandas reconocidas, entre las cuales mencionó, los Latin Kings y Los Trinitarios.
Previo al inicio del proceso de conocimiento de la medida de coerción, los actuantes del Ministerio Público solicitaron que se aplazara el proceso para dar tiempo a que se incorporaran algunas de las víctimas que han mostrado interés en participar en el proceso.
A esta petición del Ministerio Público la jueza del caso, Yiberty Polanco, decidió iniciar el proceso este lunes como exigían parte de los abogados de la defensa de varios de los imputados, quienes habían adelantado que no había justificación para no arrancar con el proceso de la medida de coerción.

Este lunes fue incorporada al proceso de medida de coerción la joven Sarah Altagracia Kimberly Rodríguez Ortiz, apresada el pasado miércoles y que a su llegada a la cárcel preventiva del Palacio de Justicia tuvo una pelea con otra reclusa.
Rodríguez Ortiz denunció que los agentes de la seguridad de la celda permitieron que ella fuera golpeada, lo que a su juicio forma parte del proceso en su contra del Ministerio Público. “Es una conspiración que hay aquí”, alegó la imputada.
“Yo quisiera una casa con piscina… no tengo nada de eso. Esto es una creación del Ministerio Público para mantener un proceso, para mantener la película, como si fuera Hollywood”, afirmó el imputado Rodríguez Ortiz, a quien las autoridades han señalado como el cabecilla de la red de estafa que habría sido desmantelada en la Operación Discovery.
