AMBIENTALISTAS MARCHAN EN RECHAZO CONSTRUCCIÓN PRESAS Y POR DERECHO AL AGUA (video)

Dirigentes sociales y ambientalistas marcharon este domingo para expresar su rechazo a la construcción de las presas de Las Placetas, en San José de las Matas, la presa de cola en Yamasá y la presa de boca de los ríos en Santiago Rodríguez.

También agregaron proclamas por el cuidado de las fuentes acuíferas y mostraron su rechazo a la extracción de materiales.

“El agua es un tesoro, que vale más que el oro”, animaban los caminantes en su recorrido, que tuvo apoyo, de activistas de Marcha Verde, la Sociedad Ecológica del Cibao (SOECI), la Fundación Tropical, Coalición Socioambiental en Defensa de la Sierra, Tiempo Verde, Grupo Ecológico Mundo Libre y otras organizaciones sociales.

Los manifestantes, que llevan más de un año de lucha en oposición a que se haga la presa de Las Placetas de San José de las Matas, también abogaron por la no privatización del agua potable.

“El agua garantiza el privilegio de la vida y el desarrollo en todas sus dimensiones, por tal motivo es un derecho humano contemplado en nuestras políticas públicas en los acuerdos internacionales”, se lee en el manifiesto, entregado a los medios de difusión.

“El propósito fundamental de esta actividad es hacernos consciente de: primero el gran valor que tiene el agua para la vida y el desarrollo de la humanidad, segundo saber que la estamos perdiendo por las malas acciones de unos y la indiferencia de la mayoría, tercero que no podemos seguir siendo indiferentes y dormir tranquilo cuando la vida y el progreso se nos va junto al río, cuarto desarrollar nuestra capacidad creativa para motivar a la gente a conservar y proteger el agua, porque solo así conservamos la vida, quinto comprender que en el planeta solo tendremos vida, si conservamos el agua en cantidad y calidad para sostener la diversidad de la totalidad de la vida.”, afirmaron los activistas de “El Cibao Marcha por el Derecho al Agua”.

Los manifestantes que caminaron desde el parque Duarte, por las calles Del Sol, España y Restauración, hasta la ribera del río Yaque, en la avenida Circunvalación.
