SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, República Dominicana.-La ministra de la Mujer, Mayra Jiménez, señaló que la feminización de la pobreza, la inequidad de género y la violencia contra las mujeres son factores que influyen en la alta tasa de cáncer de mama en la República Dominicana.
La funcionaria agregó que urge revisar las políticas que se han aplicado desde el Estado.
“Tenemos también que traer a la mesa de la reflexión el problemas de las desigualdades de género, la violencia que viven las mujeres y la feminización de la pobreza, porque sin lugar a dudas, son factores que influyen a que se tengan estas cifras tan altas en el país”, refiere Jiménez.
Agregó que un factor que influye en en estos casos es que como las mujeres son formadas para cuidar de la salud de la familia, ponen su salud en último lugar y esto da al traste con diagnósticos tardíos, que dificultan encarar la enfermedad.
“Tenemos que profundizar en las causas estructurales de este problema, hacerle frente de manera eficaz, porque la magnitud de la inversión que se ha hecho no se corresponde con la realidad, no se corresponde con los resultados en el país hasta la fecha”, dijo la ministra de la Mujer, Mayra Jiménez.
